It’s important to have a nice, clean area where you regularly meditate. You can set up your meditation, chair, or cushions there. It is not necessary to have an altar or meditation table, however many people really find these useful: you can place objects to focus on there as well as pretty or peaceful things like flowers or art. The important thing is to create a space that you can plug back into: think of it as your phone charger, but you are the phone! We create a meditative energy in this space by coming back to it and repeatedly using it for practice. Conversely, if you feel stuck in your practice, it’s nice to switch it up from time to time by meditating in a different room or outside. As with everything in meditation and life, trust your feelings above all else.
