It’s finally happened. Meditation is a big deal! While never a hugely popular past time on this planet, a good number of people seem genuinely interested in meditation today.

A recent study showed that 14% of adults meditated recently, up from less than 5% five years ago.

There are all kinds of meditation apps to choose from and different flavors of meditation and mindfulness to try.

If you are new to meditation, you’ve come to the right place! We’d love to make it as straightforward as possible for you.

First of all, let’s talk about why learning to meditate is worthwhile: because it makes you happy! There are a ton of other benefits, here’s just a few.

Next, let’s help you sort out what you need to learn.

Meditation initially involves learning to focus and concentrate. As you learn some initial techniques, you will notice that your mind will begin to feel clearer and you will begin to feel more energized. Eventually, you will learn how to slow down your mind and you will find yourself smiling and laughing more. You will find work or school more engaging, you’ll get along better with the people in your life, and you will be better at physical activities. If you get really into it, you’ll gain a sense of peace with life and find your purpose.

It sounds too good to be true, but it’s better than it sounds. Meditation has been proven in the battlefield of life for thousands of years. Today we need it more than ever as we try to cope with a fast-paced world filled with distractions.

If you’d like to learn more, go ahead and begin with our series What is Meditation. From there, we’ll teach you everything you need to know to get started and to deepen your practice.
