Buddhism, as we use the term in Living Flow, is not a religion: it is an organic set of techniques and ways of living that lead to enlightened awareness. Buddhism has always existed in one form or another: the historical Buddha was one of many people who have become fully enlightened.
People confuse Buddhism with the rituals and symbolism that Eastern cultures have created arising from the Buddha’s enlightenment. But anyone who seeks higher consciousness is a Buddhist.
We can learn from all pathways that lead to enlightenment. The term Buddhism as we use it here applies to all of them. Within the Eastern Buddhist traditions, you will hear about different flavors of Buddhism.
At Living Flow we draw from what’s called the “short path” traditions in Buddhism: the methods that provide the most effective and immediate transformation. The short path is the path that relies on direct experience through meditation. “Long path” refers to reading books and learning rituals, all of which can be inspiring and informative, but only real practice leads to change and progress in oneself.
The short path uses the release of the life force energy, the kundalini, through meditation on the energy centers to create rapid transformation.
Buddhism on the short path is exciting and fun. We learn through meditation how to transcend time, space, and dimensionality to experience eternal truths that cannot be put into words. The energy of those experiences suffuses us and affects everything we do in an extremely positive way.
The more that we practice Buddhism the happier we are and the more we enjoy ourselves, those around us, and our lives in general, despite what happens to us.
We use the ethical framework of love to take all of the power and energy of life and direct it towards happiness.
